Robert L. Kenny

Robert L. Kenny, Q.C. is the senior partner of Kenny & Murray. Mr. Kenny has extensive experience in a wide range of fields including, but not limited to, Personal Injury and Civil Litigation, Corporate/Commercial Law, Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning, Administrative Law, Labour and Employment Law, Real Estate and Elder Law.

Mr. Kenny graduated from the New Brunswick Teacher’s College in 1961. In 1964, he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of New Brunswick. Mr.Kenny received his Bachelor of Civil Law Degree from the University of New Brunswick in 1968. After being admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in 1968, Mr. Kenny established Kenny & Murray. Since that time he has pursued a general practice of law and has appeared at all levels of court in New Brunswick. He was a Deputy Provincial Court Judge in 1970-72 and is currently an adjudicator with the Small Claims Court of New Brunswick. In addition, he has continuously served as an adjudicator for the Public Service Labour Relations Board for the Province of New Brunswick as well as for private sector arbitrations. He also served as Public Intervenor for the Province of New Brunswick.

Mr. Kenny is a member of several professional organizations including: the York-Sunbury Law Society, the Law Society of New Brunswick, the Canadian Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution (Washington, D.C.) and the Atlantic Provinces Arbitration & Mediation Institution Inc.

In March 2001, he was appointed Chair of the Elder Law sub-section of the New Brunswick Branch of the Canadian Bar Association. He is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys located in Tucson, Arizona, U.S.A.

Mr. Kenny is very active in the Fredericton community. He has been a member of numerous action committees for projects including the Search Committee for the 1997 East Coast Music Awards, Chairman of the Fredericton Indoor Pool Committee ($2.8 million project) and Honourary Chairman of the Capital Financial Campaign for York Manor Nursing Home. In the past he has held various positions as a member of the Rotary Club, the YMCA, the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce and the Miramichi Salmon Association.

Mr. Kenny has received numerous honours in recognition of his years of service and excellence. In December 1986, he was awarded the Queen’s Counsel distinction by the Law Society of New Brunswick. In January 1993, in recognition of his community service, he was awarded the Governor General of Canada Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada. In January, 1999 he was awarded the Distinguished Citizens Award for 1999 from the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Kenny and his wife, Joan, have three children: Mary-Ellen, Natalie and Brigette.

 

Allen I. Murray

Allen I. Murray is a partner of Kenny & Murray. He has been involved in the general practice of law since 1978 with litigation experience at all Court levels in New Brunswick. Mr. Murray has extensive experience in a wide range of legal areas including: Personal Injury and Civil Litigation, Corporate/Commercial Law, Family Law, Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning, Real Estate Transactions and Employment Law.

Mr. Murray graduated from Oromocto High School in 1969. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Thomas University in 1973 with majors in Political Science and Sociology. Mr. Murray graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1978 with a Bachelor of Laws Degree. He was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in 1978 and is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, York-Sunbury Law Society and the Canadian Bar Association.

Mr. Murray is active within his community and has been associated with a number of organizations including the Board of School Trustees for School District 25, President of the Canadian Cancer Society New Brunswick Division, Chair of the Oromocto and Area Sports Wall of Fame and Chair of Sunbury Manor Seniors Complex. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6774 and the Oromocto and Area Watershed Association.

Mr. Murray and his wife Shirley have three daughters: Julie, Jayne and Katie.
 

Robert A. Digdon

Robert A. Digdon was born in Chatham, New Brunswick and has been an associate with Kenny & Murray since 1988. He has experience at all Court levels in New Brunswick and has experience in a wide range of legal areas including, but not limited to, Criminal Law, Personal Injury and Civil Litigation, Corporate/Commercial Law, Family Law (divorce and separation), Wills and Estates, Employment Law (wrongful dismissals), Administrative Law and Municipal Law, Real Estate Transactions and Mechanics Liens.

Mr. Digdon attended the University of New Brunswick and received his Degree in Business Administration in 1984 and his Bachelor of Laws Degree in 1987. He completed his articles with the New Brunswick Department of Justice, practising in all of the branches of that department including: Special Prosecutions, Prosecutions, Legal Services and Law Reform. He was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in 1988 and is a member of the York-Sunbury Law Society, the Law Society of New Brunswick and the Canadian Bar Association.

Mr. Digdon has held many positions in professional and community organizations. He has been a Stewart with the York-Sunbury Law Society, a Commodore with the Fredericton Yacht Club, a Vice-President of the Fredericton branch of the Kidney Foundation, Director of the Fredericton Recreational Council for the Disabled, a member of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, a participant in the Sky’s The Limit Ski Challenge Fundraiser and a minor hockey coach. He is presently a council member of the New Brunswick Legal Aid Appeals Committee.



 

Jennifer L. Donovan

Jennifer L. Donovan has been an associate of Kenny & Murray since June 2005. Her general practice involves all areas of law, including: Personal Injury (motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls), Civil Litigation, Corporate/Commercial Law, Wills and Estates (Probate, Powers of Attorney, Infirm Persons Applications), Real Estate Transactions (buying and selling property), Employment Law (wrongful dismissals, harassment, discrimination) and Family Law (divorce, separation, division of property, custody, access, adoption, separation agreements, cohabitation agreements, marriage contracts).

Ms. Donovan graduated from James M. Hill Memorial High School in Miramichi, New Brunswick in 1998. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2001 with a major in Psychology. She graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 2004 with a Bachelor of Laws Degree. She was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in June 2005 and is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, York-Sunbury Law Society and the Canadian Bar Association.

Ms. Donovan is active in her community and volunteers with many organizations. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels of Fredericton Inc., chairs its Crisis Management Committee and is a member of its Fundraising and Goal Setting Committee. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Chimo Helpline Inc. She is also a member of the Committee designed to conduct a Public Forum on the Family Court System in New Brunswick. Ms. Donovan is a Fredericton Business Ambassador, a member of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, and a Lawyer Supervisor for Pro Bono Students Canada. She is a past volunteer with the University of New Brunswick’s Women’s Centre and Public Legal Education and Information Service of New Brunswick.
